DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:
The major objective of the programme is to pull through research work from the MOD/Industry/Academia Data and Information Fusion Defence Technology Centre, and other sources of similar technology, into systems demonstration and ultimately Company marketed products and services. The initial project will be to build a laboratory demonstration of platform-based processing, embracing imagery and other sensor data handling, HUMS, etc, as part of risk reduction and technology demonstration for the System.
The intention is to build on expertise and infrastructure developed in this project to address early technology development requirements for other programmes of interest to Company
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To lead a small team in building and exploiting a Platform Processing Test Bed.To assist Director R&D and Chief Technologist in identifying, applying and integrating relevant technologies.To manage a programme of activities covering hardware and software acquisition, development and experimentation agreed with Director R&D.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To design an experimentation environment appropriate to the project, that can be implemented in a number of relatively short (3-4 month) spiral stages.To project manage the implementation of the experimental set up.
To manage the process of experimentation and the production of results.
To assist Director R&D and Chief Technologist in setting the infrastructure and experimentation programme.
To liaise with other stakeholders, in the first instance the Company team and the Company Mission Systems technology group, to develop ideas into an executable programme.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Essential:
At least 5 years’ relevant experience.Solid track record of research and/or engineering achievement.
Self-motivation and ability to transform ideas into practical solutions.
Inspiring team leadership.Knowledge of some relevant technology areas such as sensor data characteristics and processing, imagery processing, multi-dimensional data fusion, vehicle bus and processor architectures, displays especially HCI and multi-functional aspects, military software applications, CIS experimental facility hardware and software design.
Strong project management skills and outcome orientation.
