Description:
Network Build Engineer (Data) to provide a high standard of implementation, installation and maintenance across the network of a major ISP. Probably a graduate, you must have CCNA and 3+ year’s deploying high-end network solutions; and strong SDH and TCP/IP. You will have in-depth knowledge of routing and switching technology, VoIP, MPLS, xDSL, Cisco and Juniper equipment, and CAT and fibre installation and testing. You will be familiar with electrical installation, AC/DC power and fault-finding.
You need an appreciation of transmission hierarchy, ODF, DDF and MDF; and experience in 75 - 120 Ohm UTP cabling installation and testing. In terms of infrastructure and facilities management - you should be familiar with cable containment and handling and with hardware installation; have experience in a data centre or similar; and have a general knowledge of UPS, sub-distribution, fire detection and access control systems.
You will be the main interface between engineering and support to ensure the implementation of products and solutions for bespoke customer and new business, and it is expected that you will provide valuable input at the design stage to ensure the smooth implementation into the core network. The key responsibilities include deploying new elements into the core network; upgrading the core network in maintenance windows; and providing a high standard of implementation, installation and on-going maintenance across the core network. You will ensure that all cabling and equipment is installed to a high specification; document all process and procedures (for each site as necessary); and liaise with the network support and engineering teams to make sure all new and current services are delivered with minimum impact on service.
Salary will be c.£40K with good benefits. The position involves travel across the UK so a clean driving licence is necessary.
