Description:
A leading international defence organisation require a Software Assurance Engineer to be responsible for reviewing software development processes, test procedures, and software products themselves by inspection, audit and participation in formal and informal acceptance events and for recommending improvements to the ways in which software is managed. The post holder will also contribute to the development of appropriate processes and standards for projects so as to reduce the risks of software problems adversely affecting programmes and costs. This role is technical advisory as well as process oriented.
Key Responsibility Areas
· Provide assurance of the implementation of the Software Policy and Def Stan 05-95 by reviewing sub-contractors software management plans and related documents, by endorsing such documents on behalf of the Engineering Manager - Design Assurance.
· Provide oversight and assurance on acceptance testing by reviewing sub-contractors test plans and processes and by monitoring the implementation of such plans in practice including witnessing critical tests.
· Provide oversight and assurance on Safety Integrity Levels being achieved in critical software.
· Help maintain the Plan for the Management of Software and associated templates and guidance, arranging updates and amendment in response to reviews.
· Support the Software Steering Group.
· Maintain close working relationships with technical and procurement authorities' representatives on the Software Steering Group.
· Collect and collate metrics and contribute to improvements in processes for measuring software management.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of improvements in processes for software engineering (particularly software assurance).
The successful candidate is likely to have
· Experience in analysis techniques (OOA, ITIL, etc)
· Software or systems engineering process implementation knowledge
· IT Business Analysis skills and lifecycle knowledge
· Experience of testing and configuration management
