Description:
A leading international defence organisation are looking for a Senior Research Engineer / Systems Engineer to be a technical specialist in systems capability engineering & management. You will carry out research & development and originate new technologies, methods & tools in systems engineering & management, including the leading of small project teams involving other collaborating organisations. The Systems Engineering Centre is an exciting, unique and radical approach to industrial-academic collaboration, involving the co-location of multi-disciplinary research scientists & engineers, academics and other members.
Key Responsibility Areas
· Analyse requirements, design, code, test and document solutions to meet customer needs within performance, time and quality specifications.
· Prepare, document and deliver formal and informal technical reviews to inform customers of project progress.
· Co-ordinate and oversee the technical work of project teams in order to ensure that work is completed effectively and that knowledge is shared.
· Maintain an up to date knowledge of expertise area in order to be able to function as a technical specialist within the organisation.
· Interface with academics to plan, co-ordinate and manage tactical direction of individual research strands & projects.
The applicant should have familiarity with the concept of capability provision and system of systems as currently used within the defence industry, and be able to offer experience in one or more of the following:
· Pre-Concept, Concept or Assessment Phase studies (CADMID cycle) where capability / affordability tradespace is explored and innovative options are assessed from the through-life perspective - experience in both the processes and relevant technologies.
· The application of Enterprise Modelling or Architecture Framework methodologies to the analysis of current and proposed enterprises
· The applicant should have a track record of applying systems thinking skills.
· Team building or team management skills and experience would be advantageous.
· No specific application domain knowledge is required, however knowledge and experience complimenting the team skill set responding to the goals and objectives would be a benefit.
