Description:		Principal Engineer to be responsible for the complete development cycle of mechanical and E/M products for volume production in a wide range of application areas. You must have a BSc (1st/2.1) or MSc in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering; and 5+ years experience in product design and development for mass manufacturing, ideally of automotive or white goods. Your skill set will include project management and ideally CAD, DFM, DFA, and high temperature component development. In this role you will be responsible for project management; preparing specifications for mechanical and electromechanical systems taking the wider view of the product and application requirements; and proposing suitable product architectures to meet the specifications and support efficient development. You will be guiding the detailed design of mechanical systems and components down to production drawings with tolerances; developing test and verification plans to support the development process; and participating in / running design and production FMEAs. Working at all times as part of a close-knit multi-disciplinary project team focussed on delivering the design solution to our client; you will be liaising with suppliers and clients; participating in sales meetings with clients to understand their requirements and demonstrate the company’s capability; and preparing and contributing to proposals and quotations. Creating novel design solutions that will be of particular interest to their clients. Salary is negotiable depending on background and experience and is likely to be in the range £35-50K but this is unlikely to be a bar in attracting the right candidate. In addition there is an attractive benefits package including profit share and relocation where required.
