Systems Design Engineer - Naval Comms

Systems Design Engineer - Comms and Networks. Qualifications and Skills: Degree qualified (or equivalent) with a good systems engineering and design background with the emphasis on Communications systems and networking; The ability to think innovatively and propose novel solutions to problems posed; The ability to communicate technical issues clearly and coherently both internally and externally at all levels; This includes both verbal and written presentations; The ability to work at all levels of design, from system assessment to detailed design issues; The ability to work with minimum supervision, show initiative and deliver high quality outputs. Knowledge and Experience: At least 10 years experience, preferably in the Marine Defence sector with: A broad knowledge of Antennae, RF and underwater communications; A good knowledge of current RN communications systems and of future comms and network systems; A good knowledge of communications chain processes, including signalling / error correction schemes, adaptive channel equalisation techniques, etc; A good knowledge of network system design and of open architecture systems. Personal Qualities: Able to show initiative and take responsibility with minimal guidance; A desire to grow profitable Company business and contribute to overall Company performance; Good communication skills and team working attributes; A positive can do attitude; Able to gain respect for sound technical judgement both internally and with customers. Role: To undertake system design for naval communications and network systems to include functionality and interface definition, comms chain design, system sizing and performance analysis, technology selection and integration activities; To undertake design assessment activities on 3rd party systems.
