Description: Job Purpose : To undertake and report on structural analysis of crashworthy aircraft structures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
To review component parts and/or complete sub assemblies, which have been allocated for structural analysis and report, in order to develop and agree a plan of work which will minimise duplication of work.

To agree and implement a methodology for undertaking and reporting on the structural analysis of component parts and/or complete systems so that a consistent approach, using both classical stress analysis techniques and static and dynamic finite element analysis, can be adopted as far as is practicable.

To undertake structural analyses, including the derivation of loading and constraint conditions and prepare reports in accordance with the agreed format on the strength and stiffness of assigned components/systems so that ‘fitness for purpose’ as defined by customer specification can be assessed and recorded.

To validate the structural analyses using results from test programmes and to establish additional test parameters required to support validation.

To prioritise assigned projects and tasks in accordance with stated departmental and
Company priorities so that work is completed and reports are prepared in the agreed format and made available in accordance with agreed schedules and in accordance with customer specification.

To present completed reports to nominated senior manager so that each report is ‘signed-off’ to confirm that release to customer has been authorised.

To implement a system for storing and cataloguing completed and ‘signed-off’ reports so that they can be retrieved easily without delay.

To review and revise structural analysis and associated reports in the light of modifications and changes of components/systems as and when necessary so that information, reports and records are up to date.

To communicate with Principal Stress Engineer and other team members in order to update on work in progress.

To attend meetings as required in order to provide appropriate liaison/communication with other interested parties/specialist departments of the Company such that loss of productivity through poor communication is minimised.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Engineering / Mathematics degree
5 to 10 year’s experience of Stress analysis with some experience of composite materials as well as traditional aviation grade materials.
