Test Engineer - Embedded Software

Purpose:
To generate test cases, develop test software, and perform testing of embedded software for use with the company's DAB and multimedia SoCs in high-volume consumer electronics products.

The job entails:

• Developing and maintaining software to assist in the testing of embedded driver, application and system software
• Developing test cases, writing test specifications and preparing test reports
• Performing software tests for product releases
• Recording, characterising and reporting software faults
• Verifying fixes prior to release
• Evaluating customer products and providing feedback on integration or implementation issues
• Assisting developers with conformance and performance testing of application software, drivers, baseband processing algorithms and RF systems

Qualifications and experience:

• Experience of testing embedded systems, for example digital radios, mobile phones, set-top-boxes etc.
• Good honours degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
• Between 1 and 4 years experience of testing software in the semiconductor, consumer electronics or related industries
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Extensive C/C++ programming experience
• Experience of using UNIX/Linux cross development tools e.g. make, GCC, CVS Knowledge of DAB, DVB, MPEG or Software Defined Radio desirable

The position reports to the Development & Support Manager and is based in Cambridge. Candidates must be willing to work at other locations on a short-term basis as projects require.
